Thunder Warriors: Converting: The Emperor of Mankind: WIP #1

My Thunder Warriors have to have a big impressive centrepiece, someone to lead them who can count as Logan Grimnar or Abaddon or a Demon Prince. So armed with a power fist, a power sword, and a big bolter... The person who led the Thunder Warriors, obviously, was the Emperor. GW hasn't made a model for the Big Man, and none of the 3rd party models can be used at GW events, so I really wanted a suitable GW model to convert. For a while I flirted with using one of the Primarchs, then I remembered Inquisitor, the GW 54mm game. Captain Artemis was a possibility, he's a good Space Marine to base things off, but ultimately I ended up falling in love with the mixture of elaborate detail and brutal power that Witchhunter Tyrus has. This is the Emperor a few centuries before the classic GW paintings, the Emperor when he was unifying Terra not leading the Great Crusade or facing down Horus.

Thunder Warriors: Converting: The First Thunder Warriors

The start of a new army! I'm a terrible hobby butterfly, never able to concentrate... Anyway. I've always loved the Thunder Warriors, with their distinctive overlapping banded shoulder pads, their epic helmet crests, their old-fashioned early armour design that is clearly the ancestor of but different to Space Marine Power Armour, and their brutal attitude. They were the Emperor's first genetically modified army, precursor to the Custodes and the Astartes, the army with which he conquered Terra.

AdMech: Battle Report: 1,500 pts vs Necrons

This was the biggest battle I've yet played with my Adeptus Mechanicus, pulling them all together for a 1,500 pt game- once again using Codex: Space Wolves. I was playing against Deke, a GW Oxford staff member. He's got a Necron army, and for this game we were road-testing some unofficial Oxford house rules for the Necrons. The main changes were that Gauss weapons were Rending but a bit more short-ranged, Lords were WS & BS 5, and Wraiths had Power Weapons. Plus there were points increases and so on, but that gives you the basic idea!

AdMech: Battle Report: 1500 pts Doubles vs Chaos Space Marines (loss)

So, part 2 of GW Oxford's campaign. 1,500 pts per side, in pairs (so 750pts per player). Once again the Adeptus Mechanicus were Space Wolves, paired with Uncle Rich's Deathwing. This time, we were up against the Iron Warrior Chaos Space Marines.

AdMech: Battle Report: 1500 pts Doubles vs Orks (loss)

GW Oxford has been having a campaign recently. Most of us have been playing in doubles, 750pts per player so 1500pts per side. I've been using my Adeptus Mechanicus as Space Wolves, paired with my old friend "Uncle Rich" and his Deathwing Terminator Army.

AdMech: Army List & Battle Report: 1,000 pts vs Dark Eldar (win)

My Adeptus Mechanicus were designed to be quite flexible as to which codex they could count as: they could be Space Marines, Space Wolves, Dark Angels, Witchhunters or even Necrons. In their first outing they were Space Wolves- largely because Grey Hunters are better than Tactical Squads, whilst Iron Priests & Long Fangs are just so cheap!
